I have a problem with signing up for races. I always find so many great races I want to do and just start signing up for them, even when I think I have my race schedule set. In the past week, I’ve added a few more half marathons to my schedule for the rest of the year so I thought I would share it with you!
Now that I’m officially a college graduate, I can begin to focus on myself again. My final week just destroyed me, I pulled 3 back to back all nighters, only getting in small naps in the afternoons. I’m finally feeling well rested again. Then I road tripped to my graduation, and it is HOT in Arizona. Way too hot to run for my taste. So now I’m home and ready to get back to a normal routine of running and training.
Capitola Half Marathon – May 20, 2018
I had originally intended to run the full Surfer’s Path Marathon, but as I mentioned in my Silicon Valley Race review, I had to take antibiotics and wasn’t allowed to run or work out on them. Then I was traveling a bit to Alaska to visit my friend then my road trip to Arizona, so I missed several weeks of training and decided to move down to the half marathon. This beautiful race runs from Santa Cruz to Capitola and back, and the weather should be perfect for running. It finishes on the beach too, which will be exciting!
Squaw Valley Half Marathon – June 10, 2018
I had seen this race a while back and wanted to do it, but I’m running a half marathon the following weekend. I thought it might be a bit too much, but then I signed up for a triathlon that will take place on similar routes. So I wanted to get out on the course and see what it’s all about.
The half marathon begins and ends at the Village at Squaw Valley, with scenic views and the chance to see deer, bald eagles, and trout in the river. There is also an 8 mile run to Squaw Valley. It looks to be a mostly flat course! If you’re in the area, or interested in running it you can sign up here!
Rock Tahoe Half Marathon – June 16, 2018
This race looks incredibly fun and scenic! I had originally signed up for this race.
There’s even a pool party after the race at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for racers and their guests with food, drinks, and live music!
Come run with me – sign up here!
Lake Tahoe Triathlon (Sprint) – August 26, 2018
When the triathlon on my birthday was cancelled and I had to look for a new one, I found this option! I figured doing a sprint triathlon while training for a full one would be a good idea. It’s still in Lake Tahoe (a different course though). But shorter distances just to give me some experience with transition areas and swimming, biking, and running consecutively.
Sign up here to do it with me!
Giant Race San Francisco – September 9, 2018
As a part of being a BibRave Pro, I receive a free entry to this race. And I’m so excited because I’m a huge Giants fan, I wanted to do this race last year, thought about doing the race this year but was supposed to be out of town, and now I’m going to be in town! This race has a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and even a kids race on Saturday! I’ll be doing the half marathon, and the course begins in front of AT&T and runs along the water, finishing on the field at AT&T park! The great thing about this race is that although it’s in San Francisco, the course is mostly flat!
See my review of the San Jose Giant Race here!
If you’re interested in running the SF Giant Race with me, make sure you use the code “RACESF2018” for $10 off your entry!
Lake Tahoe Escape Triathlon – September 16, 2018 I have been eyeing this triathlon for a while. I had already been thinking about doing a triathlon for some time because I’ve always loved swimming and biking and it will be a fun challenge. I said in my running and fitness goals post, that I want to incorporate more cycling and swimming into my routine anyway, so this is the perfect way to ensure I do – by having to train for it. Then I found one that takes place in beautiful Lake Tahoe, and I figured there’s no better place to participate in my first triathlon! Plus it’s on my birthday, so it will feel extra great to do something challenging and rewarding. And it will make anything I eat or drink more enjoyable! How can you go wrong with racing around Lake Tahoe?! The entire race will have breathtaking views and I’ve read great reviews about the race! Come celebrate my birthday with me and do the triathlon with me! Sign up here!
Unfortunately, they cancelled this triathlon. So I signed up for the following triathlon instead!
Santa Cruz Triathlon (Olympic) – September 23, 2018
I signed up for this triathlon after the Lake Tahoe Escape Triathlon was cancelled. I had wanted my first triathlon to be in a lake, because the thought of swimming around the wharf where there’s sea lions and probably sharks kind of intimidates me. Any tips for ocean swims? But I love Santa Cruz, and the bike portion rides out to Davenport and back. I think it will be a beautiful race so I am pretty excited about it.
I’d love to see you here, sign up here and race with me!
Tahoe Trifecta Half Marathons – October 12-14 2018
Clearly there is a theme going on here, the majority of my races are taking place in Tahoe! I love running in very beautiful, scenic places. This is a whole weekend full of running, there are so many different options for races! I’m doing the half marathon trifecta, three consecutive days of beautiful half marathons around Lake Tahoe. And I think this will be an incredible challenge. I would have done one of the marathons, except I’m going to be focusing on my triathlon training. I think these races will be fun, beautiful, and motivating to run with the triple marathon runners!
See all of the different race options here. Let me know if you sign up so we can meet up race weekend!
I am looking for recommendations for races later in the year. I was hoping to do the Salinas Valley Half Marathon again this year (read about my experience last year here) but I’ll be out of town at a wedding the same weekend. I highly recommend this beautiful race though! But I have a discount code for you! Use code “BIBRAVE10” for $10 off your race entry – sign up here!
I’ve actually figured out my race schedule for the rest of the year (I think!).
Malibu Half Marathon – November 4, 2018
I really wanted to do this race last year but didn’t end up doing it. This year seems like the perfect time to run it! It looks like a beautiful run, great atmosphere, and I loved going to Zuma Beach as a kid. This gives me a chance to get another race in before my first marathon in December!
Honolulu Marathon – December 9, 2018
I’ve never been to Hawaii, and I figure there’s no better way to visit for the first time than when I’m running my first marathon! I have read so many fantastic things about this marathon, I just have to run it. It’s one of those races I don’t think you expect to be very fast, so I think it’ll be the perfect first marathon knowing I can take it slow. I’m also extremely excited to just lounge on the beach afterwards! Since it’s my first time in Hawaii, I’d love any recommendations you have for things to do and places to eat in Oahu! Or if you just want to come with me, we can explore together!
But really, if you want to run the Honolulu Marathon – use the code “HNLBR2018” for 10% off – sign up here!
