Well it’s been an interesting few weeks of triathlon training. I got my new bike and I’ve been riding it regularly. It’s nice to know that I’m still in decent enough cycling shape to not be sore or too tired after a 7+ mile bike ride. It’s been a while since I was last on a bicycle. But it’s also a little different than my last bike. I had an old mountain bike that needed some maintenance (it sat in the garage for a few years). So it ended up being cheaper to buy a new road bike than to fix my bike. So here I am with a new bike!
Then my boyfriend and I went to the lake with his family to celebrate a long weekend after the 4th of July. I brought my bike with me, but didn’t end up riding it while I was there. I did swim and wakeboard, so I got in some workout. It still counts even though there was beer involved, right?
Then I think what is week 4 of my triathlon training went really well. I got in some running and several bike rides. It was an easy week, but I still got in quite a bit of training. I am still looking for a good gym/pool to use though. And I talked my boyfriend into getting a bike so I wouldn’t have to train alone.
Then week 5, my triathlon training came to a halt. The smoke from the Ferguson Fire in Yosemite has been coming up to Northern Nevada where I’ve been staying. So we’ve been hiding out inside away from the smokey air. I go a little stir-crazy being cooped up inside, so we have gotten out to do some exploring and short hikes around Lake Tahoe. You can still see that the air is smokey or hazy in the pictures. I don’t want to hurt my body by exercising with all the pollutants in the air.
Overall, my life has been chaotic lately. So while I need to get my act together and work harder, I am happy with my triathlon training efforts!
